To run Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007, your computer must meet these

Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 needs an Internet connection to
register online, download updates, obtain virus information,
browse pages on the Trend Micro Web site, or send email.
If you have a dial-up or other connection to the Internet that
charges fees per connection, by the amount of time connected or
for the amount of data downloaded, make sure your router or
connection software does not automatically start a connection to
support the Automatic Update feature to avoid extra connection
fees. Either follow your router's instructions to edit your
router settings as required, or deactivate the Automatic Update.
5. Installation
========================================================================
Installing Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 takes only a few minutes.
5.1 Installation Considerations
=====================================================================
Before installing Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007, take note of the
following requirements:
a. Before installing Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007, please remove
any other software protecting your computer against viruses,
or else the Trend Micro AntiVirus Setup program will require
you to remove those programs during installation.
b. Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 supports upgrades from Trend Micro
AntiVirus 11, including the migration of your license number.
5.2 Installation Steps
=====================================================================
To install Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007:
a. Launch the Setup program.
b. Accept the license agreement.
c. Submit your license number.
d. Specify where you want to install Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007.
6. Post-Installation Configuration
========================================================================
To get the most out of Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007, complete all three
of the following tasks.
a. Register Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007.
Note: If you install Trend Micro AntiVirus but do not register
online, you can download updates for three days only.
After three days, you must register Trend Micro AntiVirus
online to continue downloading further updates.
b. Click "Update Now" on the main console to get the latest updates.
c. Click "Scan Now" to check your computer for hidden dangers.
7. Known Issues
========================================================================
The release includes the following known issues:
7.1 Installation Issues
=====================================================================
a. After the computer restarts following the removal of other
security software, the User Access Control (UAC) and Windows
Resource Protection (WRP) systems of Windows Vista may prevent
the Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 setup program from launching
automatically. Start the SETUP.EXE program manually instead.
b. Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 cannot function properly if you
have installed Bytemobile on your computer.
c. You cannot install Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 inside folders
or drives named with non-ASCII characters, or else the
software cannot generate logs properly.
d. You must log in with Administrator privileges on the computer
where you wish to install Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007, or else
the installation will fail.
e. Reinstalling Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 after previously
uninstalling the program without restarting your computer may
block your connection to the Internet. This problem results
from the removal of tmlsp.dll from the "Windows\System32"
folder. To solve this problem, copy tmlsp.dll from the
installation package into the "Windows\System32" folder.
f. Fully removing a Trojan horse program may require restarting
the computer. If the Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 setup program
finds a Trojan horse program while checking the computer
during installation, however, it cannot immediately restart
the computer to finish removing the threat. No warning
message will display in this case, and no warning appears if
during installation Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 fails to remove
a Trojan horse program as well. To resolve this problem, click
"Scan Now" on the Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 main console
immediately after installing the program.
7.2 Scan Issues
=====================================================================
a. By design, the folders above folders selected for a custom
scan get "grayed out" to indicate that the "parent" folder
does not get scanned.
b. Virus scan results may include "junk" characters rather than
double-byte characters in the name of an infected file.
c. A scan that proceeds too quickly may finish before the
progress bar can update to 100% complete. In some cases, the
scan may finish successfully even when the progress bar still
shows 0% complete.
7.3 Quarantine Issues
=====================================================================
a. The Virus Quarantine window can only display a maximum of two
hundred items. As a result, the "Delete All" button can
delete no more than two hundred items at once.
b. You cannot add files with non-ASCII characters in their
names or paths to the Quarantine folder.
c. The Quarantine folder currently cannot display any file
path that includes non-ASCII characters.
d. Junk characters appear in the Quarantine folder when Trend
Micro AntiVirus 2007 detects a virus in email containing
non-ASCII characters.
e. You cannot successfully restore files with very long file
names from the Quarantine.
f. If you remove quarantined files from the Quarantine folder
without using Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007, the list of files
displayed by Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 in the Quarantine
will not reflect the changes.
7.4 Update Issues
=====================================================================
a. If you attempt to download updates when your computer has
very little memory available, Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 may
mistakenly report your current protection as "up-to-date."
b. If the download process freezes while receiving an update,
exit Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 from the system tray icon (in
the bottom right corner of your screen). Restart Trend Micro
AntiVirus 2007 again and click the Update Now button to
restart the download.
c. If Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 downloads a program update and
a pattern or engine update at exactly the same time, the
Update Log only records the program update.
d. If after Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 downloads the latest
security update you then select "Update Now" to check for an
update again, the "You now have the latest updates available"
window opens. Neglecting to click the OK button in that window
will prevent any scheduled scan or update window from opening,
although Trend Micro AntiVirus will perform the scheduled scan
or download. Restarting the program solves this problem.
7.5 Microsoft Issues
=====================================================================
a. After completing a Microsoft Windows or Office Update, the
Microsoft Vulnerability Check may sometimes detect more
security flaws. Visit the Microsoft Web Site for other
security patches.
b. If the "svc_au32" process does not close automatically when
shutting down Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007, you must open the
Windows Task Manager to end the process manually.
c. A Windows "Guest" account does not have sufficient access
privileges to configure Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007.
7.6 Display Issues
=====================================================================
a. If the Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 icon does not appear in the
system tray (in the bottom right corner of your screen), try
restarting Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 to solve the problem.
b. If more than one person has logged onto a single computer
running Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007, all functions will work
for everyone, but Trend Micro AntiVirus 2007 may display
inconsistent warnings.
8. Contact Information

A license to Trend Micro software usually includes the right to
product updates, pattern file updates, and basic technical support
for one (1) year from the date of purchase only. After the first
year, you must renew Maintenance on an annual basis at Trend Micro's
then-current Maintenance fees.
